Who we are

Translate My Hobby ("we", "us") is a small independent service run by one person. These terms cover the Translate My Hobby Chrome extension and the website at translatemyhobby.com (together, the "service"). By signing in, buying minutes or clicking Translate, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

The service

Translate My Hobby translates public YouTube videos from Japanese into English and shows the translation as subtitles on the video. It is made for Japanese fishing videos. It runs in Chrome on a computer, on videos up to 60 minutes long. Phones, other browsers, other websites, live streams, and private or members-only videos are not supported.

To translate a video, our server transcribes the video's audio, reads the video's title, description and tags, produces an English translation and then reviews the whole video with a second model. The subtitles are machine-made and can contain mistakes. They are not fishing, safety or purchasing advice, and they are not statements by the channel or by any tackle brand.

Once a video has been translated, the subtitles are kept so that you and other users can watch it again.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account. You must be at least 18 years old to buy minutes. You are responsible for activity on your account. If you think someone else is using it, email support@translatemyhobby.com.

Prices and payment

Minutes are sold in one-time packs, priced in US dollars:

• $9.90 for 300 minutes (5 hours)
• $19.90 for 660 minutes (11 hours)
• $39.90 for 1,440 minutes (24 hours)

Each pack is a single payment. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal or top-up; you are only charged when you choose to buy a pack. Sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout depending on where you live. The total shown at checkout is the price of that purchase.

Payments are processed by our payment partners (Waffo for cards and PayPal for PayPal payments). We never receive or store your full card number. Your statement may show the payment partner's name.

Free previews

A new account that hasn't bought minutes yet gets 2 free previews. Each preview translates the first 15 minutes of one video. Free previews have no cash value and can't be transferred. We may limit previews to one per person or device to prevent abuse.

How minutes are used

Before you click Translate, the extension shows how many minutes the video will use. Clicking Translate uses minutes equal to the full length of the video, rounded up to the next whole minute, once. A 26-minute video uses 26 minutes. Rewatching, pausing, seeking or changing playback speed never uses more. If you previewed a video for free, unlocking the rest uses only the remaining minutes.

If a translation fails, the minutes are returned to your balance automatically. Minutes don't expire while your account is open. Minutes can't be transferred, exchanged for cash or moved to another account.

Refunds

Unused minutes from a purchase can be refunded within 14 days of that purchase. The full rules are in our Refund Policy at translatemyhobby.com/refund, which is part of these terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• resell or share access to the service or to the subtitles;
• copy, scrape or bulk-download the subtitles, or publish them as your own subtitle product;
• use bots or automation to request translations;
• abuse free previews or refunds, for example with multiple accounts;
• use the service to break the law or anyone's rights.

The videos belong to their owners. Translate My Hobby does not host, download for you or redistribute videos; it only displays subtitles alongside videos you watch on YouTube. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close your account without a breach on your part, we will refund your unused paid minutes.

Not affiliated

Translate My Hobby is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Google, Shimano, Daiwa or any channel. Brand and product names belong to their owners and are used only to describe videos.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is". We work to keep it running and accurate, but we don't promise uninterrupted access or error-free subtitles, and YouTube may change in ways that stop the extension working. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and if a change is significant we will email the address on your account before it takes effect. Changes never apply to a purchase you have already made.
