Who we are

Translate My Hobby is a small independent service run by one person. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Translate My Hobby Chrome extension and translatemyhobby.com. Privacy contact: support@translatemyhobby.com.

What we collect

• Account: your Google account email address, name and Google account ID, from Google sign-in.
• Usage: the YouTube video IDs you translate or preview, their length, your minute balance, and when you used them.
• Video content: to make subtitles, we process the audio of the videos you ask us to translate and read their title, description and tags. We keep the Japanese transcript and the English subtitles.
• Payments: amount, currency, date, pack and status of each purchase, and the payment partner's reference. We never receive your full card number.
• Support: emails you send us.
• Technical: server logs with time, IP address and the request made, used to run the service and stop abuse. The extension also records basic events such as "clicked Translate" or "opened the top-up page" so we can see where people get stuck.

What we don't collect

The extension only works on YouTube video pages. We don't read or collect your browsing history on other websites, we don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell or rent personal information.

Why we use it

• to sign you in and keep your minute balance;
• to translate the videos you ask for and show finished subtitles to you and other users;
• to process payments, refunds and receipts;
• to answer support requests and fix translation mistakes;
• to prevent abuse of free previews and refunds, and to keep the service secure.

Who processes it for us

We share only what each provider needs to do its job:

• Google — sign-in.
• Cloudflare — website hosting and our database.
• Waffo and PayPal — payments. Their own privacy policies apply to the payments they process.
• Volcano Engine (ByteDance) — speech recognition. We send it the video audio, not your account details.
• DeepSeek — translation. We send it the transcript and the video's title, description and tags, not your account details.

Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States and China. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Cookies

translatemyhobby.com only uses the cookies needed to sign you in with Google and keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.

How long we keep it

• Account and balance records: while your account is open.
• Transcripts and subtitles: kept so the video can be watched again. They are not linked to your account once you delete it.
• Video audio: only as long as needed to finish and check the translation.
• Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to 7 years.
• Support emails: up to 2 years. Server logs: up to 30 days.

Your choices and rights

Email support@translatemyhobby.com from the Google account you use with Translate My Hobby to get a copy of your data, correct it or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your account, balance and usage history; payment records we must keep by law are kept until that period ends. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Translate My Hobby is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy in a significant way, we will update the date at the top and email the address on your account.
